Test Name:
QF-PCR for Rapid Aneuploid Detection (RAD)
Alternate Name(s): Aneuploidy testing, maternal cell contamination studies
Requisition Form: Download Requisition Form
Specimen Requirement: PRENATAL:
Aneuploidy testing (QF-PCR and karyotype) or Aneuploidy and copy number testing (QF-PCR and karyotype/chromosomal microarray, as indicated):
- Minimum 15mL amniotic fluid (>17 mL preferable) or 10 mg chorionic villi AND 2-4 mL EDTA maternal peripheral blood (to be included with all prenatal specimens).

PERINATAL:
QF-PCR or QF-PCR/chromosomal microarray, as indicated:
- 1.5 cm fetal or placental* tissue in sterile transport media AND 2-4 mL EDTA maternal peripheral blood, if possible. (*note: microarray will not be performed using placental tissue)

NEONATAL/INFANT:
Aneuploidy testing (QF-PCR and Karyotype, if indicated):
- 1-2 mL EDTA peripheral blood AND 1-2 mL Sodium Heparin peripheral blood. NOTE: if only one collection tube is possible, EDTA is preferred.

Maternal cell contamination studies (to complement aneuploidy testing of prenatal , perinatal or cord blood specimens):
- 2.4 mL EDTA peripheral blood

Turnaround Time: Perinatal Samples, 8 weeks.
Additional Information: Mothers blood is used to rule out maternal cell contamination.
