Results are reported as:

Herpes Simplex 1 DNA: Positive or negative

Herpes Simplex 2 SNA: Positive or negative

Varicella Zoster DNA: Positive or negative

Samples that are reported as: "Indeterminate due to the presence of inhibitors in the specimen" should be repeated if clinically indicated.

Additional Information: Testing is performed weekdays, excluding statutory holidays.
Method of Analysis: Specimens will be tested using a laboratory developed PCR that detects Herpes Simplex 1 DNA, Herpes Simplex 2 DNA and Varicella Zoster DNA.
